Milo Yiannopoulos: Deported to UK After ICE Arrest Over Visa Violation

Milo Yiannopoulos, the far-right British commentator and former Breitbart News editor, has been deported from the United States to the United Kingdom following a visa violation. His deportation took place after he was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in New Orleans. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Yiannopoulos, who entered the U.S.

legally in May 2019, had overstayed his visa and failed to attend an immigration hearing, leading to a final order of removal issued by an immigration judge on July 22. DHS confirmed that Milo Yiannopoulos, referred to as “an illegal alien from the United Kingdom,” has been sent back to his home country.He was arrested on August 27 at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

ICE online detainee locator did not specify his location during detention but advised family and legal representatives to contact the agency office in Alexandria, Louisiana, known as a deportation hub.

Milo Yiannopoulos, born Hanrahan on 18 October 1984, is a British far-right political commentator known for his controversial views against Islam, feminism, and social justice. He served as the editor for Breitbart News from 2014 until 2017, gaining notoriety during the Gamergate controversy. His tenure became particularly contentious when he faced a permanent ban from Twitter in July 2016 for online harassment of actress Leslie Jones, and subsequently, a ban from Facebook in 2019.

Milo Yiannopoulos was implicated in scandalous communications during his time at Breitbart, where leaked emails revealed his soliciting of story ideas from white nationalists, including American Renaissance editor Devin Saucier. In 2017, he made infamously controversial comments regarding sexual relationships between minors and adults, claiming they could be “perfectly consensual.”

This led to significant public backlash, his resignation from Breitbart, a retraction of his speaking engagement at the Conservative Political Action Conference, and the cancellation of his autobiography by Simon & Schuster. In a defensive response, Milo Yiannopoulos clarified that his statements pertained to his interpretations of adolescent experiences and his own sexual abuse history.

By 2022, he worked as an intern for Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene and collaborated with figures such as white nationalist Nick Fuentes and rapper Kanye West in the latter short-lived 2024 presidential campaign. In April 2024, he was named Chief of Staff at Yeezy Apparel but resigned shortly after due to controversies surrounding an adult entertainment division announced by West. As of 2026, Milo Yiannopoulos rejoined West, taking on roles as his spokesperson and legal liaison. However, in August 2026, he was detained by ICE for missing an immigration hearing, leading to his deportation back to the UK on 28 August 2026.

He flew into the United States in May 2019 and subsequently overstayed his visa, which the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) described as a violation of national laws. Known for his controversial views, he has previously supported Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions and called for total legal immunity for ICE agents while they perform their duties.

In social media posts from 2025, he emphasized the need to deport millions of undocumented individuals, asserting the importance of this action above all else. He further advocated for immediate deportation for those unable to prove their legal status in the country.

Initially, Yiannopoulos was a fervent supporter of Donald Trump during the 2016 election, notably headlining an event named “Gays for Trump” at the Republican National Convention. However, he has since become critical of Trump, stating that the former president has strayed from his principles, allegedly influenced by foreign interests.

His controversial remarks extend to various social issues, provoking backlash with his comments about transgender individuals, Muslims, the Black Lives Matter movement, feminists, and the LGBTQ+ community, despite identifying as gay himself and later claiming to be “ex-gay.” In 2020, he assisted rapper Kanye West during West unsuccessful presidential campaign. He has also worked for Marjorie Taylor Greene, a former Republican congresswoman who, after a falling out with Trump, became an outspoken critic before her resignation from Congress.

Laura Loomer, a far-right commentator and associate of Donald Trump, publicly claimed responsibility for the arrest of Milo Yiannopoulos by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), stating on the platform X that Yiannopoulos’ flight back to the UK had already departed. Loomer characterized Yiannopoulos as a “subversive foreign agent” and asserted that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) had informed her that he would never be permitted to return to the United States.

Milo Yiannopoulos, previously a controversial figure, was disinvited from the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) in 2017 after videos surfaced in which he seemed to endorse paedophilia. Following this controversy, he issued an apology and stepped down from his position at Breitbart News.

He has consistently denied the allegations, contending that he had been discussing his personal experiences as a child.Yiannopoulos has been frequently associated with the alt-right, a diverse faction known for its vocal opposition to political correctness and feminism, which includes elements such as neo-Nazis and white supremacists.
